The Story

Founders Chelsea Gross and Corey Stanton are lifelong surfers who share a passion for the ocean and entrepreneurship. In 2018 they decided to bring their work experience in cartography and event planning together  to create Seas Cartography.

Chelsea and Corey both taught Weather and Climate labs at Hunter College before leaving their day jobs to create their mapping brand. Since building the foundation for Seas Cartography, they have had many successes creating maps for non-profit walks and rides (such as the New Jersey Light the Night Walks), as well as collaborating on fundraising events for organizations like the Adaptive Sports Foundation.  See who we work with.

As administrative gurus, Chelsea and Corey have consulted for many businesses (old and new) as well as crafted this masterpiece of a website you’ve visited today.  Voila!

CHELSEA GROSS

CO-FOUNDER

Some creatives express themselves through art, Chelsea prefers data. That's dayta for the layperson. Spreadsheets, maps, charts, surf breaks, chakras, you name it, she’s mapped it.

After obtaining a degree in Geography and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), she pursued creating her own Cartography consulting firm,
Chelsea the Cartographer, while maintaining a number of professional positions including an adjunct lecturer and administrator at Hunter College.

Ultimately her passion for self-employment and creative empowerment led her to following the Sea, and Seas Cartography was born.

Ask Chelsea about her calm - you'll find surfing isn't the only thing that helps her stay grounded. Chelsea is a certified Reiki Master and is always willing to share her practice.

COREY STANTON

CO-FOUNDER

Coreys mapping foundations began while travelling around the world. He surfed through the Galapagos, Indonesia, New Zealand and many other far off destinations creating  maps to lead himself along the way.

Inspired by surfing, Corey pursued the field of meteorology to better predict swell and wind conditions. After obtaining a degree in Physical Geography, Corey taught Weather & Climate at Hunter College while cultivating his professional cartography skills. Over time, he knew the only way to really achieve personal success was to create something unique that he could be proud of.

Corey's ability to create a project and communicate the plan make him a valuable partner at Seas Cartography. His patience and experience will teach you the foundations needed to help you achieve your project goals. Corey’s desire to support people in their work is easy to Sea and his social media and photography skills will put you on the map.
